A botnet (short for robot network) is a collection of internet-connected devices that have been infected with malware and are controlled remotely by an attacker, often called a botmaster or bot herder. Each infected device is called a bot or zombie. These devices can include: laptops and desktops servers smartphones smart home devices (IoT) routers and security cameras The owners usually don’t realize their device is part of the botnet.
